Do I need to purchase tickets in advance of the tour date?

Tickets must be purchased in advance and online through Brown Paper Tickets or by calling 1-800-838-3006. Cash is not accepted for ticket purchases. Tickets are non-refundable. Cancellations must be made the night before your scheduled tour by 6:00 p.m. Cancellations made within the required time period will be provided with a gift certificate to take the tour at another time. Any cancellations made after 6:00 p.m. the night before the scheduled tour date or the day of cannot be refunded or rebooked.

PLEASE NOTE: The Tour Operator reserves the right to cancel any given tour within 2 hours prior to the scheduled start time.

Where does the tour begin and end?

The starting location will be provided once you have purchased your ticket. The end of the tour is less than a block from the starting location.

Is parking available near the starting location of the tour?

Street Parking is available as well as many municipal parking lots. There are parking lots less than a block from the starting location.

Are restrooms available during the tour?

Public restrooms will be available throughout the tour.

How much walking does the tour involve?

Tours run approximately 2.5 hours and approximately 3.5 kilometers. Although we will be on our feet most of the time, we will have the opportunity to sit at 3 of the tasting locations. The tour is conducted at a casual pace and will be stopping frequently at tasting locations and historic sites. Please use your discretion upon booking.

Will tours be held in bad weather?

Tours will run rain or shine. Please check the weather forecast prior to the tour and dress appropriately according to the forecast. Should there be lightening, thunder or high winds the day of the tour please call 1-800-459-1985 to ensure the tour is still going ahead.

Are cameras permitted on the tour?

Cameras are highly recommended on the tour.

Is smoking permitted on the tour?

No. Smoking is not permitted on the tour. We ask that all participants are considerate of others and do not smoke while on the tour.

I live in or around the Niagara Region. Is this tour for me?

Absolutely! While you may already be familiar with some of the stops on the tour, you will have the opportunity to sample new food items as well as learn about each establishment. Not only will you learn about the unique history of Niagara-on-the-Lake, you will also learn some fun, new facts about the agriculture of the Niagara region, as well architecture and culture of the town that you may not have been aware of. Being a local also allows you to re-visit many of the eateries on the tour as well as others we recommend. What better way to spend an afternoon entertaining out-of-town family and guests then by meeting new people, learning about our beautiful town, and sampling some of the best food the region has to offer?

Are gratuities included in the ticket price?

No. Gratuities are not included in the ticket price. Gratuities are not mandatory, but are greatly appreciated.

Will the tastings on the tour fill me up?

The tour includes 6 food tastings which are satisfying for most participants. This tour is not meant to substitute breakfast and lunch so please consider eating breakfast before the tour. For those participants who are of legal age, an alcoholic beverage is included on the tour.

Will beverages be provided on the tour?

An alcoholic beverage is offered at the 4th tasting location, however, feel free to bring your own beverages to keep you hydrated throughout the tour. Beverages will also be available for purchase at certain tasting locations.

Are customers allowed to shop while on the tour?

The tour has been co-ordinated in advance to ensure an on-time tour and fresh food-tastings. It is important to stay on schedule throughout the tour. We do ask that you refrain from shopping until after the tour, however, your guide will provide all the information you require to return to your favorite spots once the tour is complete.

Is the tour child friendly?

Yes, children may participate in the tour, however, we do ask that parents assess whether a 2.5 walking food tour is appropriate for their children. Ticket prices vary according to age: Youths (ages 12-18) and children (ages 5-11).

Is the tour wheelchair and baby stroller accessible?

No, the tour is not wheelchair and baby stroller accessible.  There are steps and stairs to some of our tasting locations that would be difficult for wheelchairs and strollers to access.  Participants are always welcome to join the tour and tastings can be enjoyed outside the premise of the tasting location if accessibility is difficult for the tour guest.  Please use your discretion and remember the tour runs approximately 2.5 hours.

What if I have a dietary restriction or food allergy?

Upon the purchase of your tickets, please be sure to let us know if you, or anyone in your group, has a dietary restriction or food allergy. Advance notice will allow us to do our best to accommodate your needs.

Are there vegetarian and gluten free options available on the tour?

Most tasting locations can offer vegetarian and gluten free options with advance notice. When purchasing tickets please notify us regarding specific requests as we will not be able to arrange for alternative options on the day of the tour.  Taste the Town Tours is happy to offer a Gluten Free ticket price.  Please note, that gluten free options will be provided where possible.  Not all tasting locations may be able to provide a gluten free option.

Are tours offered only in English?

Yes, our tours are offered only in English at present.

Are animals allowed on the tour?

No, animals/pets are not allowed on the tour unless a seeing eye dog is required.
